Dion Waiters Award
Best short screen-time performance (heat check).
Dion Waiters Award has run in 257 episodes. The most recent 40 are listed below — open any episode at its timestamp to hear the segment.
Grandpa (the wheelchair-bound character)
The gas station attendant washing the windshield
Discusses the windshield guy's role, speculates he's a part-timer not fully part of the family
Arlene the assistant (mentioned also considering Young Tom, the frizzy editor Sparkle, and Chris Grandy driving the cab, but settled on Arlene as the clear pick)
The 'aviators guy' bodyguard/lifer who blocks Trump from leaving by putting his leg on the chair
Bill Bull Paxton as Private Hudson ('Game Over, Man!') - calls it a 'Dion Waiters 2.0' since he's in the movie a lot (35 minutes) but still delivers a heat-check, scene-stealing performance with tons of memorable lines
Agrees Hudson is the standout, comparing it to Léon in the movie 'Tony' - the actor who picks up the movie and walks away with it, being the most entertaining person on screen even alongside Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn
Crease - he's in one scene and crushes it
Don King (also notes Giancarlo Esposito could count, but he's in Van's own 'flex category' instead)
Made a case for James Toney, but ultimately places Giancarlo Esposito (as Ali's dad) in his own 'flex category' (the David Caruso CSI: Miami Award) rather than Dion Waiters
