Most Rewatchable Scene

Bill Simmons▶ 44:12Multiple scenes: French guy hitting on Connie during windstorm, Connie's train ride post-affair with flashbacks, lunch with friends scene, Edward kills French guy, Connie confronting Edward about the snow globe, with emphasis on the train scene as 'number one'
Wesley Morris▶ 44:48Agrees with the lunch scene with friends as 'peak Adrian Lyne' and discusses the French guy confrontation scene, but doesn't clearly state a single top pick

Casting What-Ifs

Bill Simmons▶ 1:07:12Jennifer Lopez — Discusses Brad Pitt and Ryan Philippe being offered Paul's role before they made it French, and reveals Jennifer Lopez was offered Diane Lane's role but turned it down
Wesley Morris▶ 1:08:42Jennifer Lopez — Believes Jennifer Lopez made the right choice turning down the role because it required a specific type of actress like Diane Lane or Jodie Foster, not someone of J-Lo's star persona

Joey Pants Award

Bill Simmons▶ 1:13:01Zeljko Ivanek — Zyko Ivanovic (the detective in the movie)
Wesley Morris▶ 1:13:30Zeljko Ivanek — Agrees with Zyko Ivanovic choice, noting he's in everything including Law and Order episodes

Half-Assed Internet Research

Bill Simmons▶ 1:15:11Based on 1969 French film The Unfaithful Wife; Adrian Lyne did repeated takes to break down actors, especially for sex scenes; wanted Gere and Lane to gain weight but they refused, so he left donuts in Gere's trailer; smoke-filled apartment set required doctor on set giving antibiotics for bronchial infections
Wesley Morris▶ 1:15:42Commented on how weird acting must be, having to simulate intimate scenes for hours over multiple days with a demanding director, and compared Adrian Lyne unfavorably to David Fincher as being a madman

Apex Mountain

Bill Simmons▶ 1:16:57Diane Lane — Diane Lane - absolutely her apex mountain

Best Quote

Bill Simmons▶ 1:21:30There's no such thing as a mistake. There are things you do and things you don't do.

Probably Unanswerable Questions

Bill Simmons▶ 1:22:53Multiple questions: Did Paul deserve to die? (yes, he was a dick); Is Richard Gere a good actor? (conditionally good actor); Where would you dump a body? (not a junkyard, should claim self-defense instead); What happened to the Sumners next? (divorced within couple years, he turns himself in)
Wesley Morris▶ 1:23:24Paul didn't deserve to die for a dumb reason; Richard Gere takes too many shots, low shooting percentage but good when paired right; wouldn't kill anybody, doesn't want to deal with it; thinks they turn themselves in and claim self-defense
